Alderley pays tribute to nation's fallen

Remembrance Sunday was marked in Alderley Edge this afternoon with a parade and church service to honour those who lost their lives whilst fighting for their country.

Organised by the Alderley Edge branch of the Royal British Legion, the parade departed from the Festival Hall and marched along Moss Lane, Trafford Road and Chapel Road before proceeding down London Road to the war memorial.

Residents lined the streets to pay their respects and observe the parade which was led by the Bollington Air Cadets Band and included members of the Royal British Legion, Alderley Edge Parish Council, Cheshire Police, British Red Cross and WRVS.

They were joined in the parade by local scouts, cubs, beavers, guides, brownies and rainbows.

Following prayers and the wreath laying ceremony at the war memorial, a Service of Remembrance was held at St. Philip and St. James Church, conducted by Father Matthew Thomas, priest at St Pius X Church.
