New studio prepares to rock

Work is well underway to build a new rehearsal and recording studio in Alderley Edge.

Brynwood on Wilmslow Road is currently being refurbished and sound proofed to create Castle Rock Studios - described as "a fully encompassing facility for artists to rehearse and record in a bright, airy and accoustically sound creative space".

Due to open in January 2012 the studio will include rehearsal and recording rooms, a vocal booth, main control room, staff offices and a chill out area for musicians with vending machines, soft furniture, a football table and plasma screen.

In the basement there will be a Live Lounge with a green screen for shooting videos, enabling musicians to be superimposed into their favourite video. The room can be hired out with a capacity for 30 to 40 guests.

I went along last week to have a tour round the studio and meet with Bradley Nevinson.

Castle Rock Studios is a new venture for Bradley's parents Rick and Carolyn and their business partner John Stretford who runs Streford Events.

Bradley told me "My parents bought the building a few years ago, originally for us to live in. They then considered opening a restaurant but decided that the area was lacking recording space and rehearsal studios for bands."

Musician Bradley, 17, is in a band called Gilman Street and currently studying at the School of Sound Recording in Manchester, which is an awarding winning centre of excellence for training in music and media. He is taking an Audio Engineering, Technology and Technics course after which he will be a qualified sound engineer.

Bradley explained "We aim to make Castle Rock Studios very homely and welcoming, hopefully we can build up a regular clientele and offer a friendly service."

In addition to offering the facility for musicians to rehearse and record their tracks, Castle Rock Studios will also be offering Pop Star for the Day packages, which they are hope to make available in November/December as Christmas gifts ahead of their opening in January.
