A second art gallery is opening in Alderley Edge this month, located in the building previously occupied by The Medicine Shop.

Bebb Fine Art of Ludlow is opening the Bebb & Sekers Fine Art in partnership with Lucy Sekers, the granddaughter of Sir Nicholas Sekers who founded Sekers Silk and the daughter of David Sekers the first Director of Quarry Bank Mill Museum.

Lucy will be running the gallery with Roger Bebb who opened the Ludlow gallery in 1979 and had looked into opening a second gallery in Alderley Edge a few years ago.

Established for over 30 years, Bebb Fine Art buy and sell a colourful and varied collection of works of art from 1900 to the present day from the most respected and renowned artists. These include original paintings in oil, watercolour or mixed media, screenprints, lithographs, etchings and sculpture.

The Sekers family have been closely associated with the Arts for three generations, so the collaboration brings together a wealth of experience, knowledge and passion.

Roger said "We like to maintain a relaxed atmosphere where a client can ask questions or just browse without feeling intimidated. We also offer a full restoration service."

Lucy added "With the financial situation being poor for investment, we advise people as to safe investment that they can enjoy while it increases in value. Why put it in an ISA when you can put it in an etching!"

Bebb & Sekers will open with a preview evening from 6pm until 8.30pm on Friday 23rd September, with special guest Alderman Thelma Jackson, who was the last Mayor of the Borough of Macclesfield.

The gallery will also be open from 10am till 5.30pm on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th, when everyone is welcome to join them for a drink and a browse during the day.

Normal opening hours from Tuesday 27th September will be 10am until 5.30pm Tuesday to Saturday, closed Sunday and Monday.

It may not be exactly the type of shop that many might want but I'm just glad to see another empty shop occupied. Power to their elbow.
