Plans confirmed for village fete

Plans for the third Alderley Edge Village Fete are now finalised so all we need now is to hope that the sun will make an appearance.

This year's traditional summer fete will take place on Sunday, 26th June, at Alderley Edge Cricket Club.

New for this year, there will be a Dog Show, organised by the Animal Support Volunteers and sponsored by The Vets Place in Wilmslow.

The catagories will be: most handsome dog, prettiest bitch, cutest puppy, best trick and the dog the judge would most like to take home. The Dog Show will take place from 2.30 to 4.30pm.

The marquee will be filled with a selection of local produce including: beer, cupcakes, fruit and veg, plants, handmade jewellery, ladies clothing and accessories, kids toys, handmade bags, vintage homeware, cards and paintings by local artists.

On the stage throughout the day there will be music from Handforth Youth Brass Band, Styal School Steel Band, Terra Nova Saxaphone groups and Falibroome Salsa Band.

Outside activities will include: birds of prey, face painting, holistic taster treatments, a fire engine, fair ground, WFA penalty shoot out, tug of war and clay pigeon shooting. There will also be a display of vintage cars including a Morgan +8, TR6 and Citrone Traction.

A selection of cakes and tea will be served by the Fulshaw WI ladies alongside a BBQ, Pimms tent, ice cream stall and bar.

This year's chosen charity is the East Cheshire Hospice so lots of activities will be held throughout the day to raise much needed funds for our local hospice, which cares for adults suffering from life-limiting illnesses from which there is no cure.

Organiser Emma Bolton, owner of The Lavender Tree, said "We are all really looking forward to this year's event. With the music creating a fabulous atmosphere throughout the day and so much for all of the family to do, we hope that it will be another successful community event. Alongside all of the fun we also hope to raise lots of money for the East Cheshire Hospice."

This community event has been a real highlight in the village calendar for the past two years so we are praying for good weather and really looking forward to Sunday.

Gates will open at 2pm and we will be there taking photographs, whilst trying to entertain our daughters, so if you spot us and would like your photo taken for our gallery then come and let us know.
