Following the success of the past two years, the Alderley Edge Village Fete is back and promises to be another fantastic community event, packed full of fun for the whole family.

This year's traditional summer fete will take place on Sunday 26th June from 2pm at Alderley Edge Cricket Club.

Entertainment will be provided by local school bands including; Handforth Youth Brass Band, Fallibroome Salsa Band, Alderley Edge School for Girls Saxophone Group and the Styal School Steel Band, who will perform on stage throughout the afternoon.

A new addition this year will be a dog show, organised by the Animal Support Volunteers. All visitors are welcome to bring their dog along to join in and details of the categories will be published shortly.

Attractions will include; vintage cars, a fire engine, fair ground, football penalty shoot out and a tug of war competition. The large marquee will also be filled with local businesses selling a selection of gifts and local produce, and a food creche will be available where purchases can be left to kept cool.

The ladies from Fulshaw WI will be serving their teas and cakes and refreshments will also be available from the Pimms tent, BBQ, ice-cream stall and bar.

The Village Fete, which is a highlight in the Alderley Edge social calendar, is organised by Emma Bolton, owner of The Lavender Tree on Brook Lane.

Emma, who set up the event in 2009, said "The idea is to create a traditional village fete to bring the community together and raise money for a local charity.

"During the day there will be lots of fund raising activities for our chosen charity this year, the East Cheshire Hospice, which we know so many local people have a connection with."

We will be there on the day taking photographs so we can put a gallery together on alderleyedge.com, so if you see us around do smile for the camera.

Well done Emma (and Sarah) for arranging this community event once more. We benefitted from your efforts in 2009 and were delighted to be chosen as a worthy cause.
We wish you every success for this year
