Alderley Edge Hockey Club girls under 12 age group team won the North of England Mini Championships on Sunday, April 10th.

Already the Cheshire Champions, the skilfull Edge girls powered their way through the group stage beating off strong Yorkshire opposition, including Ben Rhydding on the way to the final.

In a tense final, the first half score was 0-0, but in the second half the Alderley girls turned on the style running out winners 5-0 against Wakefield. They now go forward to the National Finals at Cannock on 15th May.

At the same tournament the Edge U10 boys, also Cheshire Champions, battled their way to the semi-finals, drawing 0-0 with Harrogate, before losing out on penalty strokes.

Junior Chairman Graham Bryant commented "We’re very proud of both the girls and boys. The girls particularly are a determined, talented group who we’ve been coaching for several years now. This further establishes the ‘Hockey Academy at Alderley’ as a centre of excellence for Junior hockey in the North of England."
