The ‘Edgehogs’, the Alderley Edge Hockey Club under 12 girls mini hockey team are champions of Cheshire. They won the annual County tournament staged at Altrincham on Sunday beating 9 teams from all over the county.

Undefeated on the day, they played a skilfull passing game and displayed great skills learned at their weekly Sunday morning coaching sessions organised by team manager Manjit Wolstenholme supported by coaches Irma Laskevice and Renata Matjusaityte.

‘The Wizards’, the clubs second team came third in the same competition. A very creditable performance for a team made up of younger girls who will be eligible to play in next years competition. In the under 10 age group competition the Alderley Edge girls team came a close third.

Next stop for the ‘Edgehogs’ is the North regional finals in April. The girls will be joined by the clubs under 10 boys team to play against the top teams from Cumbria, Lancashire and Yorkshire. Great to see the clubs junior ‘Hockey Academy at Alderley’ producing such talented players and making a mark in such prestigous competitions.
