Primary School celebrates week of sporting success

Alderley Edge Community Primary School were celebrating last week as two of their sports teams triumphed in local tournaments.

On Wednesday, March 9th, all the hard work the netball team have put in to their training paid off as they won the Wilmslow and District High 5 Primary Schools Netball Tournament. The team will now go on to play in the next round of matches, competing against the winning teams from other areas.

The week also ended on a sporting high when the school's football team played in the Beech Hall 6 a side Football Tournament on Friday, 11th March.

They competed against 12 state and independent schools from across the Alderley Edge, Wilmslow and Macclesfield area. The team worked really hard in their league matches and even came back from 2 - 0 down in one match to ensure they finished top of their league.

This meant the team from Alderley Edge Primary went through to the final match where they won 1-0 to claim their winners medals and trophy.

Headteacher Mr Chris Perry said "I am delighted with the achievements of both teams. They have worked tremendously hard this year in training with the two PE teachers, Mr Sivewright and Mrs Bateman, and this success is well deserved. I wish both teams the best of luck in upcoming tournaments."
