Alderley Edge Cricket Club is keen to recruit new players for their over 40's squad.

The over 40's cricket team plays 20/20 in the Cheshire County League on Wednesday evenings between May and August - competing in the East Cheshire Zone against other local teams such as Mobberley, Marple, Bredbury, Macclesfield, Bollington and Bramhall.

Matthew Cheetham said "The cricket is a reasonable standard with players of all abilities but it is primarily a social event with a meal and drinks after every game, where all players from both teams mix in.

"Last season Alderley only had a squad of 11 or 12 over 40's and we would welcome new players. The current over 40's squad is a mix of players from outside the area, Alderley, Heaton Mersey, Wilmslow, Wilmslow Wayfarers and Prestbury. Some of the players still play weekend cricket at their home club but because over 40's cricket isn't available they choose to play at Alderley on Wednesdays evenings."

To play for Alderley over 40's, players need to become social members, which costs £54, and there is a match fee of £10 for home games and £5 for away games, to cover the cost of food and drinks. Members also enjoy a couple of over 40's social events a year, including a golf day at Wilmslow Golf Club in September.
