Spring concert in support of Church Spire Appeal

Local group Opus 5 are making a return visit to Alderley Edge Methodist Church on Saturday 2nd April for an evening of musical entertainment.

Opus 5 was formed in 2007, comprising of four singers and a pianist, and the proceeds from their Spring Concert will go to the "Time for the Future Spire Appeal".

The project to dismantle and re-build the Methodist Church Spire is now into its 5th month, and due for completion in early summer, by which time the spire will have been made safe, with a new stainless steel core, some replacement finials and gargoyles in the re-constructed stone-work.

The clock, which was cast in 1850, and has been removed after 150 years of faithful service to be restored, will be back in working order to chime once more across the village.

Specialising in music from the operas of Puccini, Verdi and Mozart and the popular and modern operettas and musicals of Gershwin, Johann Strauss, Andrew Lloyd-Webber, Schonberg and Leonard Bernstein, Opus 5 provide a programme to delight all tastes.

The concert starts at 7.30 pm. Tickets are available from the Church Office on 01625 586713, for a minimum donation of £8 with an option to gift aid if desired.
