Alderley Edge Hockey Club ran a two day childrens hockey camp this week at the King’s School in Macclesfield.

The camp was attended by twenty local children under the age of 12, who were mainly from the village. They learnt hockey skills and played small sided games.

Led by club coaches Irma Laskevice, Renata Matjusaityte and Bob Lawton, the two day programme was a resounding success. Another camp will take place for older childen under 16, on Wednesday, 23rd February and Thursday 24th.

The Club are dedicated to providing hockey coaching and playing opportunities for all ages in the local community. Last week they provided coaching and ran a competition at Wilmslow High School for 50 primary school children from schools across Wilmslow, Alderley Edge and Macclesfield.

Prior to the event, working in partnership with the Macclesfield School Sports Partnership, the club organised coaching for teachers so they can deliver hockey to children in local schools.

The hockey club hope to host future community focused children's activities at a new artificial grass pitch they intend to build on the Ryleys playing field later this year. This will benefit local schools and children as well as existing club members who currently have to travel to Macclesfield and Wilmslow to play home games.
