Alderley Edge School for Girls held the final of their annual Junior School speech competition this week.

Over the Christmas holidays, all Junior School girls were asked to prepare an individual speech on a topic of their choice which was to last between 1.30 and 3 minutes. Class finals were held during January with the top three from each class going through to a whole school final.

Parents and grandparents were invited to the event, which was judged by local thespian and Urmston Adjudicator, Mr Michael Donahue who was particularly impressed with the girls, especially the confidence, eloquence and presentation they displayed.

Mr Lawrence Groves, Head of the Junior School commented, "The girls performed extremely well, public speaking can be quite a daunting task and they all enjoyed the day.

"Special congratulations must go to all of our winners, namely Jumanah in Year 1, Evie in Year 2, Raveeha in Year 3, Olivia in Year 4, Lauren in Year 5 and Genevieve in Year 6."
