RBS lend a hand at school

DSC01263

Last week a number of handyman tasks were completed at Alderley Edge Community Primary School (AECPS) by a select team of 12 individuals from RBS.

As part of the Group's continued Corporate & Social Responsibility commitments they completed several tasks for the school which had been identified by Jackie Burt and Headmaster Chris Perry.

The team were challenged with clearing and repainting the school fencing and provided new shelving units for improved storage, as well as freshening up the playground walls and entrance to the music room.

Having dusted down their overalls, the day started bright and early. Thankfully the rain stayed away, whilst the high winds only served to speed up the drying process.

The team took a well earned break at midday and were able to join the children for lunch in the hall, with fish fingers being a well deserved treat.

Jackie Burt from AECPS commented "They all worked really hard on Friday and did a great job. If they ever wish to come back in the future and do another community day they are all more than welcome."

Its a sad day that a state school in one of the richest areas in the country has had to have maintance jobs completed by a state bailed out bank staff.

If RBS paid back the bailout money more quickly perhaps we could afford to employ a care taker/handyman for the school.

Fenton - the school didn't HAVE to have the jobs carried out by RBS. This was a group of genuine people giving their time up for a worthwhile cause and wanting to simply give something back to the community. Surely you cannot criticise these individuals for bringing down the UIK economy single handedly?! I have a son at the school and know it was a welcomed & worthwhile activity, so would like to thank them for their great work – it has made a real difference. And for reference, they already have an excellent caretaker at the school who does an amazing job and is very well thought of.

This was not a criticism of anyone involved. I'm surprised to hear that the school has a caretaker. I remember my primary school caretaker very well, he was a great guy.

I don't blame the RBS staff who helped out for the UK economy, as that would be just plain stupid.

I appreciate what you are saying but I just felt that you posted a very negative comment for what I personally feel was a very positive contribution by willing individuals.
