Cheshire East Council is supporting an initiative to boost the number of foster carers across the North West in 2011.
Twenty three local authorities from across the region are working together again, for the second part of the You Can Foster campaign. The programme aims to show there is no such thing as a 'typical' foster carer.
Foster carers will be heard on radio stations, as well as starring in a television advert. They will be asking more people to come forward and look into how they too can change a person's life for the better.
One of the main messages of the You Can Foster campaign is to show the diversity of foster carers and to encourage applications from people regardless of ethnicity, gender, age, sexuality, marital or employment status.
Councillor Hilda Gaddum, Cabinet member with responsibility for children and family services, said: "I hope this campaign persuades people who have never thought about becoming a foster carer, to explore the subject more thoroughly. Fostering can be an immensely rewarding experience and we are always looking for more people.
"Fostering doesn't have to be on a long-term basis, it can involve just looking after a child for a shorter period, such as a weekend.
"Foster carers do play a vital role in helping the Council improve the life opportunities and health of young people in Cheshire East."
Chris Williams, Chair of the North West Fostering Leads groups, said: "Thanks to all the people across the region who have enquired into fostering for their council so far. We've received around 1100 enquiries to date which is fantastic but we're hoping there are many, many more to come.
"If you've been thinking about fostering, make 2011 the year that you get in touch and join the many wonderful foster carers there are who are already making a difference to a child or young person's life."
