Adverse weather conditions wreaked havoc upon the roads of Cheshire today, with Police responding to over 150 calls from the public reporting collisions.
Over 76 road traffic collisions took place on Cheshire roads and motorways between 6am and 2pm. The towns of Warrington, Congleton, Winsford and Macclesfield were among the worst areas affected. Ice and rain has created very dangerous and slippy road conditions, particularly on the A34 Congleton where one of our readers reported an overturned car near Capesthorne Hall this morning, which resulted in lengthy tailbacks.
However, despite scores of collisions, some involving up to ten cars, none of the injuries reported have been life threatening. The majority of calls to Police reported cars skidding off the road, or colliding with other vehicles due to the poor road conditions across the County.
As the evening rush hour is approaching, Police are advise motorists to only make journeys that are absolutely necessary, ensure your car is fully defrosted with full visibility and maintain a safe and constant speed and avoid sudden braking that can cause your car to skid.
