Tanya Simister, 38, a former resident of Alderley Edge, has been offered the position of Deputy District Judge for the Northern Circuit, by the Ministry of Justice.
Tanya's parents still live in the village, where she attended Mount Carmel School from the age of four and became Head Girl in the Upper Sixth. She is an equity partner and director in the Altrincham based law firm Haworth Holt Bell and holds a Master's Degree in Employment Law.
Tanya was one of approximately 100 selected nationwide from around 1800 applicants and will preside over civil court actions throughout the North West.
Initially Tanya took a written examination, then earlier this year she was invited to London for a demanding role play and interview.
