Alderley Edge Hockey Club have secured the services of two Lithuanian women international hockey players to both coach and play at the Club this season. The 30 year old twins Irma Laskevice and Renata Matjusaityte will be coaching ladies and juniors at the club and playing for the ladies 1st team in the Cheshire Womens League Division One.

Irma and Renata have taken over immediate responsibility for ladies coaching and training. They are also involved with junior coaching at Wilmslow High School on Sunday mornings and boys coaching at the King's School Macclesfield on Monday evenings. In addition they will be delivering coaching programmes at a number of local schools and at the England Hockey Board Junior Development Centre in Macclesfield.

Irma and Renata have played at the highest level and won numerous national and international honours. For the past few years they have been playing and coaching in the Belgium National League for Royal Antwerp Hockey Club, one of the most prestigious European ladies hockey teams, and most recently for Braxgata Hockey Club.

Securing the services of Irma and Renata represents a major step forward for the ladies section and is part of a five year plan that has been developed to significantly advance the quality and level of hockey that the club aspires to play.

Alderley Edge Hockey Club will be running 5 men's, 6 ladies, a 'mums and friends back to hockey team' and a host of junior sides. If you or your children fancy trying hockey, please contact myself, the Club Secretary, Kelvin Briggs on 07825 213205 or by email: [email protected].
