Church to host a Festival Soiree

Alderley Edge Festival have arranged an evening of music and song to raise funds for the Church Spire Appeal and help enable the Methodist Church spire and clock, which have become victims of serious corrosion, to be removed, restored and rebuilt.

The concert will take place at the church on Saturday September 18th and the programme will mainly consist of light classical music with a bit of opera and jazz. The evening will begin with a voice and piano trio called 'Voci Dolci' who formed in 2004. Voci Dolci will perform a wide range of repertoire from high opera and Lieder through to French song and musical theatre. Their recent performances include the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester and Bramall Hall.

For the second half a duo called 'Just The Two of Us' will perform, comprising of Neil Shaw-Hulme (keyboards, voice) and Amy Francis (saxaphone). This is the inaugural performance of Amy and Neil in a concert arena, but follows the success of their European tour, or what they choose to call 'busking under the Eiffel Tower in Paris' at night time - which was apparently a magical experience and attracted one of the biggest audiences to ever gather there.

The programme will include the duo's theme song 'Just the two of us' by Bill Withers, a varied mix of popular classics and a wonderful rendition of 'Baker Street'.

Admission is free but a minimum donation of £5 per person is requested and light refreshments will be available.
