Plans to create padel courts at Wilmslow Leisure Centre

Plans have been submitted to create padel courts on the site of a now disused multi use games area (MUGA) at Wilmslow Leisure Centre.

Everybody Health & Leisure (Everybody) is seeking planning permission for the creation of 2 padel courts with associated boundary treatments and pedestrian access arrangements.

The proposed development will be sited on the existing MUGA which was constructed around 2004 and is now disused.

According to the planning statement "The space, which represents previously developed land, stands to be reactivated with new padel courts, which are an in-demand facility for a rapidly growing sport and therefore have the potential to provide significant sporting and wider community benefits for Wilmslow Leisure Centre. This includes the ability for the development to bring in additional revenue streams which will assist this Council owned facility with regards to its wider sustainability and ongoing running costs."

The courts would be accessed from the existing footpath which runs alongside the leisure centre with players able to use the changing, showers and storage facilities within the leisure centre building.

The plans can be viewed on the Cheshire East Council website by searching for reference 25/0599.

Padel tennis is really taking off over here, after a very slow start. We played it for 10 years in Spain, changing from tennis.
It will be an excellent addition to Everybody leisure,if priced right. There’s an App for your mobile so you can make up a four.
