Alderley Edge Cricket Club (AECC) under 11's team beat Poynton by a massive 200 runs yesterday to retain their place at the top of the South Manchester Junior League.

The team have been undefeated all season and have so far amassed over a 1000 runs in 6 games. Amongst the tremendous performances on Tuesday evening, schoolboy prodigy Oliver Towle scored 41 runs off the bat in 4 majestic overs and took 3 wickets for 14 runs in a spell of hostile bowling.

Dave Stevinson from AECC said "Under the guidance of Andy Fluck, Chairman of the Junior Cricket Club Section, we have invested very heavily in the cricketing experience, training and quality of coaching at AECC this year. He has made the commitment to ensure that all boys who want to play cricket at AECC get the opportunity to play competitive matches as well as simply train.

"The club has over 250 juniors on our books, all coached and developed by the professional coach Mark Currie, former Lancashire County Cricket Club opening batsman. This is a wealth of talent that the club intends to nurture."

The boys face Stretford under 11's on Sunday, who are currently third from bottom in the league.
