Alderley Edge School for Girls is excited to announce the launch of its new 'Forest School' this September, designed to immerse pupils in nature, while encouraging and developing pupils' #BeMore attributes including collaboration, curiosity, creativity, communication, responsibility, resilience, resourcefulness, and reflection.

As well as having a significant, positive impact on pupils' mental health and wellbeing, Forest School will enable pupils to enjoy success in these attributes, which are as important as academic skills to develop pupils into well rounded and successful individuals.

Currently, work is underway to clear a woodland area within the school grounds and over the next few months, the school will be making a significant investment into the Forest School area which will include seating areas, a fire pit and covered areas making Forest School an all-weather option.

AESG has been offering Outdoor Learning for quite some time, however, after investment in staff training and development, Mrs Bennett has achieved her Forest School Leader Level 3 qualification which means that AESG can deliver Forest School, integrating a more hands-on, nature-based ethos of learning into the school's curriculum.

The children are looking forward to exciting activities using tools and fire during the sessions. Without an official 'Forest School' qualification these activities are not permitted within the curriculum as specialist insurance is needed where this qualification is a requirement.

"We are excited to offer this enriching opportunity to our pupils," said Emma Scott, Head of Prep at Alderley Edge School for Girls. "Forest School is not only about academic learning but also about building confidence, independence and a lifelong love for the natural world. Our pupils will engage in activities that nurture curiosity and allow them to grow in ways that traditional classrooms cannot provide."

AESG Forest School Co-ordinator, Mrs Jess Bennett added: "We believe that by exposing our girls to the wonders of nature, giving them choice and a sense of community, we're not only enhancing their education, enabling them to achieve greater success in the classroom, but also instilling values and developing skills that will guide them throughout their lives. Our new Forest School initiative is a key part of our commitment to providing a broad-based, 21st-century education."

Alderley Edge School for Girls is committed to providing a well-rounded education that nurtures academic excellence, creativity and personal growth. With a focus on innovation and sustainability, the school strives to prepare students for the challenges of tomorrow through diverse, hands-on learning experiences.
