Cheshire East Council has signed up to the Small Business Engagement Accord which is a voluntary code of practice for local authorities in the North West. Awarded by the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), it seeks to encourage increased communication between councils and local businesses.

The FSB invited Cheshire East Council to sign the Accord and the official ceremony took place last week at Alexander Paper Supplies in Nantwich. Cheshire East Council Chief Executive, Erika Wenzel was there to add her signature to the Accord on behalf of the Authority.

Speaking after the signing Cheshire East Council Chief Executive, Erika Wenzel, said; “I would like to thank the FSB for inviting Cheshire East Council to sign the Accord. It provides Cheshire East Council with a chance to publicly announce our on-going commitment to local businesses.

“We will not become complacent. We will continue to work closely with other agencies such as the Chambers of Commerce. We are determined to do all we can to guide the local economy out of the recession.”

Sandy Cowen, FSB Crewe & Nantwich Branch Chairman, said, “The FSB welcomes Cheshire East’s support in developing productive and simple processes in the consultation process. Small businesses generate wealth, employment and opportunity in local communities; as our national Keep Trade Local campaign says, they aren’t just part of the local community - they are the local community.”
