As some of you may be aware, at 1.40 p.m. on Wednesday 14th April 2010 a road traffic collision occurred on London Road in Alderley Edge in which, tragically, a local lady was killed. Despite the best efforts of the emergency services and members of the public the lady, Janet Terras, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

This was a terrible incident that has had a profound effect on those that witnessed it. However, I would like to take this opportunity as the local officer to thank everyone for their help and support on the day - the community, shopkeepers and bystanders pulled together as one during this time and were a great help to us.

I attended at the scene and was touched by the sprit of the community, it was a tragic incident yet despite this everyone seemed to pull together and help out. This made me feel very much a part of the community and I know from speaking to people since the incident that many people may have been affected by what they saw.

The collision itself is still under investigation and I will keep you updated about its outcome. If anybody witnessed anything I would urge you to contact Cheshire Police on 0845 458 0000. Alternatively, please feel free to contact me on 0845 458 6374 or at [email protected].
