With just over two weeks to go until Alderley Edge switches on the annual Christmas lights, plans are well underway to bring an entertaining event to the village on Thursday, 21st November.

This year will see stalls set up on London Road with a variety of market traders including handmade gifts and crafts.

Cllr Liz Marshall said "We have worked hard to bring a variety of stalls to the event, carefully selecting those that bring something different to compliment the numerous shops we have, many of whom will also stay open. We aim to create a lovely festive atmosphere in the village.

In addition to the market stalls there will be an entertainment stage hosting a variety of talent ranging from school choirs to upcoming singer songwriter Jenem. The stage will be kept lively with the talented magician Brad Hart who will act as compere.

Although still top secret organisers have a very special and popular person to perform this years' switch on, accompanied by the winners of the poster competition.

Mitch Gilbert, Chairman of AETAG said, "It's always a challenge to find someone who will appeal to everyone to come along and switch on our lights, this year I think we've nailed it"!

The market will be set up from 5pm when London Road will be closed and will continue to trade until the event finishes at 9pm.

The light switch on will make place at 7.30pm.
