Local residents and businesses are encouraged to put on their best display for this year's Village Enhancement Competition with the chance to pick up the The Shell Trophy.
The judging panel will be out and about in the village this month to select this year's category winners, who they deem to have made the greatest contribution to the village as viewed from a public road.
The competition is free to enter and can be won for the Best Retail Premises Display, Best Cafe, Restaurant or Bar Display and Best Non Retail or Office Display.
In 2018 The Shell Trophy was won by a Graham and Annie McLelland for their residential display on Heywood Road.
The Shell Trophy was found during the extensive refurbishment of the Festival Hall and this discovery coincided with the sad death of Ian Miller, a lifetime resident of Alderley Edge and a keen and expert gardener. Therefore it seemed an appropriate gesture to re-present the Trophy in his memory.
Winners will be notified prior to the Village Show which will take place at the Festival Hall on Saturday, 31st August. The trophy and framed certificates will then be awarded at around 3.30pm at the show.
