Aldeli are pleased to announce that their first ever Poetry Competition is now open for entries.

Children are invited to have a go at writing a poem about their summer holidays. Poems of any length and style are welcome and everyone who hands in a poem at Aldeli will receive a free ice-cream or frozen yoghurt.

Ilana Higham said "Our aim is to give children a chance to try their hand at poetry, with the opportunity to win some great prizes, and take part in a community event."

Each child may enter up to two original poems, in English, on the theme of summer holidays. Entry is free and open to children ages 7 – 13.

Entries should be handed in to Aldeli on Wilmslow Road by 5pm on Monday 10th September.

Poems can be hand-written or typed and must include name and contact details somewhere on the entry.

Winning poems will be published on alderleyedge.com and winners will be invited to a prize-giving evening at Aldeli in September, date TBC.

Applicants will be able to win one of a range of prizes, with first prize being a basket of goodies very kindly donated by Lydia Gilmore, of Alderley Edge School for Girls.
