Search for a Star 2018

Promotional Feature

Physiofit in Alderley Edge is a well-established centre of excellence with over 25 years of experience in developing young growing athletes. In 2014, they launched their first Search for a Star campaign offering a sponsorship package to a local athlete giving them access to physiotherapy and strength and conditioning to help them reach their sporting potential.

They approached all the local schools and clubs to offer them the chance to apply. From the many amazing applications, they received, the judges who include Michael Vaughan (ex-England Cricket Captain) and Angie Jackson (Director of Physiofit) selected their first Sporting Star, Issy Reynolds Duffy, a hockey player from Wilmslow High School and Alderley Edge Hockey Club. Due to the quality of the applicants, several smaller awards were also made, and Physiofit have subsequently gone on to sponsor many local athletes helping them achieve their sporting dreams through the scheme.

We are so proud of what all our athletes have achieved with many of them going on to represent England and Team GB in their chosen sport. You can read more details of their sporting successes on our athlete's page.

Three of our athletes will this year go to university with two having secured places at top US universities on full sports scholarships. This allows us to re-open the application process to find our future stars. We would like you to make this opportunity available to any promising athlete that would benefit from all our services at Physiofit including physiotherapy, supervised strength and conditioning sessions, sports specific core classes, injury prevention and a mentoring programme to help them develop their sporting potential.

At Physiofit, we are passionate about everything we do and are looking for athletes who will work hard, have a passion for their sport and who are committed to becoming the best they can be. Please forward this to anyone that you believe has got these qualities encouraging them to become a part of our successful athlete team. The application form can be downloaded from our website along with the terms and conditions for applying or by emailing [email protected].

All applicants will be invited whether successful or not to attend one of our seminars on "How to succeed in sport" as a thank you for taking the time to apply. This will include information regarding strength and conditioning, posture, nutrition and sports psychology. These sessions are available free to all local secondary schools and clubs. If you would like further details about this or anything we offer please do not hesitate to contact us at [email protected] or call 01625 590444.
