Two talented musicians to perform lunchtime concert

The March Lunchtime Concert takes place on Wednesday, 21st when Alderley Edge Methodist Church will be welcoming two talented musicians from the Royal Northern College of Music.

Violinist, William Chadwick will be accompanied on the piano by Imy Luc both of whom are appearing by kind permission of Royal Northern College of Music.

William Chadwick graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music with a first class honours degree in 2017 and is now currently in his first year of postgraduate study at the RNCM, where he studies with Pavel Fischer.

As a keen chamber musician, William has won the Hirsch prize with the Mowbski String Quartet, and has appeared as finalist in the RNCM's Schubert Prize, and the Christopher Rowland prize. William is also an enthusiastic orchestral player and has led the RNCM Symphony, Chamber, Opera, Concert and Brand New Orchestras, as well as leading in the RNCM's annual tour to Montepulciano where the Symphony orchestra performs as part of the Cantiere D'Arte Internationale.

William has completed a professional experience scheme with Manchester Camerata and was this year accepted onto the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra's professional experience scheme.

During 2017, William was awarded the Waddell Prize for string players and in November he performed as a soloist with the Manchester Universities String Society Orchestra.

Imy Luc began learning the piano aged 6 with Nina Levtov. At aged 14 she then attended the Junior Department of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and was taught by Sanae Nakajima and Stephen Coombs. For sixth form she gained a place at Chetham's School of Music in Manchester where she had Peter Lawson as her teacher. After this she was invited to study with the Italian pianist Carlo Grante in Italy and did so for two years. Currently she is studying with Dina Parakhina at the Royal Northern College of Music and is in her 3rd year of the undergraduate course.

Imy is an experienced performer and has given recitals around the UK and Italy. She has performed in venues such as the Wigmore Hall (Jacques Samuels Junior Department piano competition winner's concert), Wales Millennium Centre and the Bridgewater Hall. She has also played with the Worthing Philharmonic Orchestra playing Mozart's Piano Concerto no.9. Since being at the RNCM she has had masterclasses with notable pianists Philippe Cassard and Martin Roscoe.
Throughout her musical studies she has won various prizes and awards for her playing. Most recently she was awarded the Shirley Cattarall Prize from the RNCM for the highest piano recital mark in her year.

Their programme will comprise: Beethoven's Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 9 "Kreutzer" and Ralph Vaughan Williams' The Lark Ascending: romance for Violin and Piano.

Light lunches are served from 12 noon and the recital begins at 1pm.
