According to the latest research from Halifax the ten most expensive streets in the North West are all in areas south of Manchester.
The most expensive street in England and Wales outside of southern England is Withinlee Road, between Mottram St Andrew and Prestbury, with the average property costing £1,205,833. Pictured above is Highfield House, Withinlee Road, a 5 bedroom house currently under construction and for sale for £3,850,000.
The two next most expensive streets outside southern England are both in Altrincham; Park Lane, Hale (£1,167,500) and Eyebrook Road, Bowden (£1,090,919).
Macclesfield Road in Alderley Edge is the fourth most expensive street in the North West with the average house costing £1,018,948.

Results of the national survey have shown that The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea provides half of the 20 most expensive residential streets in the country with Wycombe Square the most expensive - where the average property price is £5,401,477.
Five of the nine regions in England have streets with an average house price of over £1,000,000.
Nitesh Patel, housing economist at Halifax, said "Across most regions, the survey shows that the most expensive streets are tightly clustered within the same area."
The data in the Halifax report has been compliled from over 1.78 million UK postcodes supplied by the Royal Mail in conjunction with the Land Registry database of housing transactions and prices. House prices shown in the table are arithmetic annual average prices of house transactions between September 2005 and September 2009.
However the accuracy of the survey in identifying the most expensive streets is questionable given that one or two sales during the four year period would completely alter the table. I would have expected to see Whitebarn Road on the list, which came top in a 2007 survey by www.mouseprice.com of the most expensive streets in the North West - with an average price of £1,855,880.
