Following on from their success in the village's inaugural North West In Bloom entry, which saw volunteers pick up a Silver Gilt award in the best small town category, they have already turned their attention to this year's competition.

Having received a donation of a large quantity of bulbs, which need to be planted as soon as possible in order to generate a display of colour in the village this year, organisers are looking for people to help them plant the bulbs.

Councillor Christine Munro said "We are thinking of planting in the park, at the railway station, the grass verges, in the planters in the village etc.

"We are also offering these to any business or group in the village if they would like to decorate their premises, or alternatively they could plant a tub or container which can have their name on, and we will display around the village."

Christine added "Photos of these and all the work we will be doing throughout the year will be entered in our portfolio which we will present to the RHS judges when they come to look at our efforts and consider our application for an award again this year."

The group will be meeting at 10am this Sunday, 15th January, at Alderley Edge station to start planting.

Christine said "We have every spring bulb you can think of. If we can get them all planted it will make a beautiful splash of colour in our village in the Spring. It will look amazing."

If people are not able to attend on Sunday but would like some bulbs to plant at your leisure around the village email Christine Munro, who is happy to meet with people so they are able to choose which bulbs they would like.
