A team of dedicated volunteers who run a Brownie Unit in Alderley Edge are sadly finding themselves low on numbers and would love for more girls to join them.
The 4th Alderley Brownies, run by ClaIre Gorton and her mother Pat, together with a small team of volunteers, meet on a Wednesday evening from 5pm to 6.30pm.
However, they have recently found themselves with just three members as a lot of the local Rainbows (5-7 year olds) have been moving on to the Monday night Brownies in an effort to not disrupt their busy weekly schedule.
Claire said "At 4th Alderley Brownies, the girls enjoy meeting once a week to work together to earn badges, take part in brilliant activities and challenges, play fun games and make new friends.
"Some activities that have proved to be most popular with our group recently have been crafts, cake decorating, outdoor fun, sleepovers and visiting local places of interest including the fire station, police station, Weinholt's bakery and the Alderley Edge allotments!
"We aim to create a balanced and varied program so that there is something for everyone and allow the girls to share experiences they may not have otherwise been able to take part in, this can include district and county events where the girls join other Brownie units and sometimes Guide's and Rainbows too!"
She added "Within the Alderley District there is a decline in girls getting into guiding and we would really like to keep guiding accessible to as many girls in the district as we can."
Girls can join Brownies when they are 7-years-old and usually stay until they reach 10.
Anyone interested in joining can email Brown Owl Pat Gorton or call her on 01625 586313.
