Spitfire documentary premiers in Alderley Edge

July15

Alderley Edge writer, historian and film-maker John Wallace has long been fascinated by Second World War Spitfire aircraft – so, with his film-maker friend and colleague James Walker, he decided to make a documentary on the subject, which he's premiering at Alderley Edge Methodist Church, Chapel Road on Monday, 26th September.

Entitled 'High Flight', the film is named in honour of probably one of the greatest poems of the Second World War, which was written by a young RAF pilot called John Gillespie Magee.

John said "The film summarises a 30-year quest that has taken me on a fascinating journey. I made the documentary purely for the love of this magnificent aircraft, and I'd like to share my experiences with anyone who has an interest in Spitfires, the RAF, and the history of the Second World War."

The film premier is hosted by Alderley History Group and everyone is welcome to attend the event, which starts at 7.30pm and which will last approximately one hour.

Suitable for both adults and children, entry is free, tea and coffee will be served, and voluntary contributions to the RAF Benevolent Fund will be very welcome.
