Efforts to improve roundabouts spoilt

The roundabouts at each end of Beech Road were filled with fresh soil last month and re-seeded following damage by heavy vehicles.

White marker posts were installed to try and prevent vehicles from taking a short-cut over the roundabout, however they didn't remain in place for very long.

Cllr Craig Browne said "Unfortunately within a matter of days they were stolen, a bit like some orange bicycles. Highways are going to come and replace them with some more heavy duty posts this time, set in concrete so hopefully that will make them a bit less mobile."

I heard that one of the roundabouts was churned up by the refuse collection lorry just days after it had been re-levelled and re-seeded. I'm not saying they were the only culprits, but the irony was not lost on me.

The roundabouts on the estate have always been a problem for wagons and now having lost the garages and gained more houses means more cars parked on the roads. The bin men have to get through without catching a car so the roundabouts get it. Perhaps a one way system on the estate parking one side only would help! Just an idea
