The annual Time Out Group Shindig will see friends and families coming together to celebrate the charity's work and raise money to continue helping members get involved with social and leisure activities in their local community.
The Shindig will take place at Honford Hall, Handforth on Saturday 13th August and will be a fun evening with Indian street food and dancing. The Blackjack Brewery will be providing a fine selection of ales, wines, spirits and soft drinks whilst the Sambamba Samba Band will provide the musical entertainment. There will also be a tombola and a raffle with some great prizes.
Time Out Group Manager, Salli Ward, said "The members value the communities of Alderley Edge and Wilmslow. Here they feel accepted and included and they have a lot to offer. The members hope to increasingly engage with residents and community facilities - see them at the Leisure centre, down the pub or walking on the Edge. This event will help the small charity to keep going and to increase its membership to support even more adults with learning disabilities.
"The Shindig will also be enormous fun for friends, parents, families and neighbours of Time Out Group members - but also other residents of Cheshire; it's an opportunity for a great night out for anybody who likes good music, good food and good company."
Helen, one of the members who attends the Macclesfield group says: "I really enjoy Time Out Group because I get the chance to go to exercise at the gym and try lots of different sports like volleyball and football."
Another member, David, who has attended the Wilmslow group since 2002 said "I enjoy both the sport and social activities, especially playing tennis and when we go to the pub as a group". His mother Gill adds "From my point of view, Time Out Group is a lifeline. David's social life revolves around Time Out Group activities."
Miriam, the activities and volunteers coordinator who has led the organisation of this year's event said she is "really excited about the Shinding this year as everyone at Time Out Group has been involved in its organisation and it's going to be a fun celebration about what a great year we've had. The members, their families, friends and anyone that wants to support Time Out Group are coming together for a warm, lovely and thoroughly enjoyable evening. We can't wait and hope you can join us!".

Time Out Group is a supported social and leisure group for adults with learning disabilities in Wilmslow, Handforth and Alderley Edge. It's vision is for members to be accepted as equal within their own community and have the opportunity to take part in social and leisure activities without discrimination.
