Alderley Edge Parish Council held a presentation evening to discuss producing a Neighbourhood Plan for the village on Wednesday 6th July.

Over 70 people attended the presentation, along with Tom Evans, the Neighbourhood Planning Manager for Cheshire East Council, who gave an an overview of what was involved in creating a Neighbourhood Plan and how the process works.

He also explained that his team would be available to help and advise as volunteers work through the stages and answered questions from the audience.

Neighbourhood Plans were introduced as part of the Localism Act 2011. They have replaced the 'Parish Plan' which no longer has any legal status.

Neighbourhood Plans are a way for a community to say what it wants its priorities to be over the next 15 years. Whilst the Parish Council will play its part, the idea of a Neighbourhood Plan is that it is led by the wider community, who will then vote on it at a Parish Referendum.

The proposed themes for the plan are:

  • Managing Housing and Development.
  • Protecting Green Spaces
  • Preserving Heritage and Character
  • Improving Infrastructure
  • Promoting Community Wellbeing
  • Supporting the Locasl Economy

Councillor Christine Munro explained "The next step is to set up a steering group which will be made up of local councillors and volunteers from the community who will manage the process."

If you were unable to attend the presentation evening but would like to be involved in the development of our Neighbourhood Plan complete this form and send it to the Parish Clerk.
