Several shops in Wilmslow and Alderley Edge were targeted by a shoplifter in May this year.
One of those shops, Norton Barrie, provided some still CCTV images to the police and as a result the offender has been identified.
He was then interviewed and admitted carrying out the four shoplifting offences.
The male responsible has now been charged and will appear at Macclesfield's Magistrates court on Tuesday, 26th July.
Andrew Nelson aged 46 years and of no fixed abode stole from Waitrose in Alderley Edge on Friday 13th May.
The following day, he stole clothes from Norton Barrie and Jaeger clothes shops in Wilmslow then on Thursday 19th May Nelson stole from Running Bear in Alderley Edge.
The total retail value from all four stores was in excess of £2000.
