The owners of a petrol station in the village are offering a reward for information that leads to the successful prosecution of brazen thieves.

Tower Garage on Wilmslow Road seems to have been targeted by a gang of fuel thieves and the business is now experiencing a drive off every few days.

Stephen Higham explained "We are offering a reward of £1,000 for information leading to the successful prosecution of the culprits.

"They most often use at least two people in the car, the passenger gets out leaving the door open whilst he fills then jumps into car when fueling is complete and quick exit is made."

The thieves, who do not seem to be fazed by CCTV or being viewed, use vehicles fitted with false number plates and usually use the pumps furthest away from cashier.

Amongst the vehicles that have been used are a Citroen DS3 3 door (silver with alloy wheels) and a Toyota Celica coupe (silver with boot spoiler and alloys wheels).

Stephen said “The police have just visited. The vehicle from last night visited us, Lindow service station and Chelford - one after another. Seems he has a tank in the boot as over 120 litres were taken last night!"

He added "If you have any information please contact the police immediately or the manager at Tower Garage on 01625 582222."
