Cash available to get residents more active

If you have an innovative idea that could support local people to get more active then Active Cheshire wants to hear from you.

Their aim to address the lack of physical activity, which has been proven to have a negative impact on people's confidence, mental health and physical wellbeing, by investing in projects, programmes and interventions that support local people to become more active.

In 2015, Active Cheshire invested over £500,000 in the residents of Cheshire and Warrington and now a further £200,000 is available to support local people to improve their physical activity habits.

If you're a group of people that come together on a regular basis and feel you would benefit from getting more active, then apply to Active Cheshire. Active Anywhere investment funds the imaginative, the quirky, the non-traditional routes to a healthier lifestyle through physical activity.

Active Cheshire welcome applications from a broad range of groups, such as young mums, luncheon clubs, a parish councils, a youth clubs and extra care facilities that have a new idea, and need additional funds to realise their ambition.

Anne Boyd Chief Executive of Active Cheshire said "We invested in over 100 projects in 2015 that supported local people from aged 3 to 93 to get active. The quality and breadth of applications we received for the last investment round was truly impressive, so I'm hoping that this year we will see new and innovative projects that make a difference to people's lives and deliver the greatest sustainable impact for the residents of Cheshire & Warrington."

Application forms can be downloaded from the Active Cheshire website. Submission deadline for applications is 5pm on Thursday 31st March 2016.
