Local businessman David Bailey has just opened his new venture Hang It Framers on Trafford Road in Alderley Edge.
David, a Chartered Surveyor at Hallams, with over 40 years experience in the commercial property sector, has been framing as a hobby for years. Due to increased demand David decided when he moved house recently that he needed a separate space and the result is Hang It Framers - described by David as a "Picture Shop".
In addition to offering a framing service Hang It Framers also sell a variety of prints, ready made frames and half a dozen ranges of greeting cards, 3 of which are exclusive to this shop.
All the artists are UK based, with products ranging from ready to hang prints at £10 through to unframed limited editions retailing for around £400. David is sourcing the prints from the big art houses and next week he takes delivery of a limited edition print of the Sgt. Pepper album cover by Sir Peter Blake RA.
David said "if people like a particular style of print but not the actual picture we can advise and source alternatives".
All the frames are handmade and the glass cut on the premises. Other services offered include editing and printing photos on to canvas, fine art paper or gloss. David told me "we have a Fine Art Printer which enables us to print your favourite photos up to A1 size or we can turn them in to special cards."
He went on to explain that " over the years we have been asked to frame a wide variety of treasured possessions, many of which have been hidden away in a cupboard or attic for some time - hence our logo "Hang It Don't Hide It"
David is definitely not new to the village but we do wish him all the best with his new "Picture Shop", when I popped down yesterday he certainly seemed to be in his element.
