Talented young musician to take solo role

George landscape 1 (1)

A young musician from Styal will be a soloist at a forthcoming performance of Handel's Messiah by The Lindow Singers.

George Herbert will be playing the trumpet solo in 'Air: The Trumpet Shall Sound' in the third part of Messiah alongside bass soloist Thomas Hopkinson at Alderley Edge Methodist Church on Sunday, 13th December.

They will be joined by other soloists from The Royal Northern College of Music.

George, 14, is currently a student at Chetham's School of Music where he studies trumpet, piano and organ. He also enjoys singing and composing music. Additionally, George is an organ scholar at St. Bartholomew's Church and sings in the choir there.

A fellow choral scholar from St. Bartholomew's, soprano Isabel Paterson, will also be joining the Lindow Singers. The concert will start at 7.30pm and be conducted by Russell Medley, with organist Richard Brocklehurst.

Tickets, priced £11 for adults, concessions £10 and students £5, can be bought on the door, however a previous Messiah performance at Alderley Edge Methodist Church a couple of years ago was a sell out so booking is recommended by phoning 01625 611124.
