A Luncheon Club for older people who live in the area has vacancies for new members.

Alderley Edge Luncheon Club, which is run entirely by Royal Voluntary Service volunteers, opens each Tuesday and Thursday during term time at Alderley Edge Methodist Church. during term time and charges £3.00 for a two course meal.

The club is for elderly people who who would like to socialise once or twice a week whilst enjoying a freshly prepared two course meal which costs just £3. They have members not just from Alderley Edge but also Wilmslow, Chelford and Macclesfield but unfortunately they are not able to provide transport so members need to be able to make their own way, get a lift from a friend or use a taxi.

There is also a social club on some Tuesday mornings where members and volunteers meet for a chat and hot drink, there is no charge for this.

Anne Bale said "New members do not need to be referred by a doctor, social worker or minister of religion as Luncheon Club is available to anyone who wishes to join. At present we have several spaces available and will start a waiting list if the demand is too great."

Alderley Edge Luncheon Club also has vacancies for new volunteers as two of their long serving volunteers will be retiring at Christmas.

Please phone Anne Bale on 01625 582514 to find out more.

Photo: Councillor Geoff Hall joined the members of the Alderley Edge Luncheon Club for lunch on Thursday, 29th October, after making a donation from the sales of his Alderley Edge posters and giving a framed copy of one to be raffled at the Luncheon Club - the money raised will go toward a new cooker to replace their 1970s model.

Alderleyedge.com has done it again! I have already been contacted by a prospective new Luncheon Club member who wanted to find out about Luncheon Clubs but did not know how to do it; he will be trying out Luncheon Club on Thursday. It would be great to hear from people who would like to volunteer as I will be devising the rota for spring term 2016 in the next couple of weeks. We got some excellent volunteers through alderleyedge.com last January and it would be wonderful if it could become a tradition.

Anne has beaten me to it ! I am the person she refers to. My wife for 56 years died in September, so I knew I would have to make some changes in my life. I told Anne that I hope there would always be volunteers to carry out this valuable service which is so much more than just providing a very reasonably priced meal.
