Sister Act coming to Wilmslow

The Alderley and Wilmslow Musical Theatre Company are bringing Sister Act to Wilmslow this November.

Billed as a 'divine Musical comedy' and based on the smash hit movie starring Whoopi Goldberg, it is the story of Delories who hides out in a convent having witnessed a dastardly crime.

Delories is a nightclub singer and the convent has a choir, whose efforts are not particularly musical and definitely less than angelic. It is a match made in heaven and in the ensuing chaos sees the nuns learn to sing (and lots more!), Delories discovering a heart, gangsters aplenty and a fun time is had by all.

Alderley and Wilmslow Musical Theatre Company are one of only 18 companies nationwide granted the rights to perform the show since its release.

Tina Spiers, the company spokesperson said "We are particularly pleased to be doing the show as it is going back on professional tour at the end of the year so we are lucky to have got it whilst it is still available. It is such a high tempo show and we have a great cast, made of both new performers to us as well as some familiar faces so we are very excited."

The company has 22 all-singing, all dancing nuns and Delories is being played by Nicky Mead in her first production with the company.

Sister Act plays at Wilmslow Leisure Centre from Tuesday 10th to Saturday 14th November at 7.30pm with a matinee at 2.30pm on the Saturday.

Tickets are priced £9.50 for Tuesday, £13 Wednesday and Thursday, £15 for Friday and Saturday evening and £12 for adults and £8 for children for the matinee. They can be booked on line at www.awmtc.co.uk or by calling 07506 988433.
