As part of the Alderley Edge May Fair celebrations a 5k run is being held on Friday, 15th May.

The Alderley Edge May Fair 5k will start at 7pm in Alderley Edge Park. Participants will then cross Chorley Hall Lane and run around the fields before heading back to the park where refreshments and entertainment will follow.

Organiser Angie Jackson of Physiofit said "We don't mind how you get round the course, run, walk or even try Nordic walking with our instructors. The aim of the event is to encourage fitness and well being in our community in a fun and friendly way as well as raising money for CRY.

"They raise money to provide cardiac screening nationwide and bereavement counselling for families who have either been diagnosed with a cardiac condition or have lost a family member. So whether you are new to running or a seasoned racer this is the right event for you."

Runners must be aged 12 or over on the day of the race and U16s must be supervised by a responsible adult who is aged 18 or over.

To register visit the Physiofit web site or Alderley Edge May fair website and click on the link to enter. Numbers are strictly limited.

Angie added "The entry fee is optional but we would suggest that a donation is made in the region of £5-10 per person. The costs of staging the event will be met by Physiofit, all monies donated will be given to CRY."

More details can be obtained by calling 01625 590444 or emailing [email protected].

In addition to the Alderley Edge May Fair 5k a Wizards and Witches Wheelbarrow Race will take place just before the parade on Saturday, 16th May.
