A brand new fun event is being organised for the 2015 Alderley Edge May Fair.

A Wizards and Witches Wheelbarrow Race will take place just before the parade on Saturday, 16th May.

Setting off from the field on Chorley Hall Lane, participants will run down the lane onto London Road and finish the 400m course at Costa Coffee. They will then join the parade and go into the park where the prizes will be awarded.

All you need to enter is a wheelbarrow, which is in good condition, a driver, who must be over the age of 18, to push it and a passenger, who is Year 6 or older. Participants will also need costumes, one wizard and one witch, and are welcome to decorate their wheelbarrow.

There will be a price for the first over the line and also a prize for the team that the judges admire most.

Christine Munro said "The wheelbarrow race will be the start of the May Fair. A really happy fun event, wheelbarrows and their occupants and drivers all dressed in fancy dress, running into the village. It will bring smiles to everyone's faces which hopefully will stay there all day.

"I hope we get lots of entrants, and the crowds will cheer them on their way, and everyone enjoys our new addition to the May Fair Day."

Each team must submit an entry form by 5pm on Friday 1st May, early registration is recommended as places will be limited. Entrance fee is £10 per team.

All profits from the event will go to Cheshire Border Guides, who are organising the event on behalf of the Alderley Edge May Fair Committee.
