The annual pop-up Christmas card shop is preparing to open upstairs in Wilmslow library, giving everyone the chance to buy charity cards with the reassurance that every penny spent on the cards goes back to the charities.
Now in its 43rd year, the Wilmslow shop will open on Saturday 25th October representing around 50 local and national charities.
Shop founder and organizer Sheila Hallas MBE said, "As far as we can tell, we are the only organization that ensures charities get 100% of the card price paid. And we can do this because the margin we make on the gifts and stocking fillers we sell goes to cover our costs such as room rental, publicity, bank costs etc. And I must add that nobody, repeat nobody, in the organization gets paid for their services.
Since the enterprise started back in 1971 they have raised over £4.5m for the participating local and national charities, a list of which can be found at www.christmas-cards.org.uk.
Open until Saturday 6th December, the shop will also sell a wide range of quality gifts, toys, stocking fillers and wrapping paper. The margins made from selling these go towards covering the costs of running the operation.
The Wilmslow shop will be open from 9am to 5pm Mondays to Saturdays with late opening to 7pm on Mondays and Thursdays.
