Alderley Edge Methodist Church will host their 10th Anniversary Lunchtime Concert on Wednesday 15th October featuring students from Chetham's School of Music Manchester.

The recital will feature George Herbert on the trumpet, Pip Elmer on the oboe, violinists Edward Holmes and August Janonyte, and the programme will finish with three organ pieces played by George Warren.

Jean Walker commented "This month, we celebrate our 10th anniversary. The first lunchtime concert took place on 13th October 2004, when we enjoyed an organ recital by two young musicians from Chethams, James Norrey and Peter Stevens. It is always a privilege to see and hear such talented young musicians, often poised to pursue eminent careers.

"Ten years on, James Norrey is now Assistant Director of Music at Newcastle Cathedral, and Director of Campus Music at Northumbria University, whilst Peter Stevens is Assistant Master of Music at Westminster Cathedral."

Average attendance at the concerts is in excess of one hundred and since the concerts began in October 2004 organisers have donated over £21,000 to deserving charitable organisations.

The performance will commence at 1pm and will last approximately 45 minutes. Admission is by programme at the door, priced £4, and light lunches, charged separately, are available from 12 noon.

Proceeds from the concert will be donated to Oxfam as the concert will take place during the first ever Oxjam Alderley Festival.
