Raising a cup to World's Biggest Coffee Morning

An hour of early morning hockey was followed by coffee and scrumptious cakes at The Edge on Friday, 26th September.

Twenty-four ladies baked cakes and held a coffee morning raising £235 as part of the national Macmillan 'Worlds Biggest Coffee Morning' fundraising campaign. This followed on the heels of the clubs 'Rainbow' Hockey Tournament last week where over £900 was raised for The Christie Hospital and Cancer Research UK.

Coach Kelvin Briggs said "Our ladies enjoy their fun hockey sessions and are always happy to go the extra mile for Cancer charities. The team spirit and caring attitude is amazing. So many members and friends work tirelessly to support families and friends in the Club who have had had to tackle Cancer head on. Days like these are special and so rewarding for all the community."

Meanwhile around 100 people popped into the Alderley Edge Scout Hall for coffee and cakes which had been donated by local businesses and residents, along with a selection of raffle prizes which helped raise £510.

Rob Brennan organised the coffee morning with Pauline Malcolmson, and her daughter Kate Comer, because Pauline's husband Ian Malcolmson has cancer and is receiving a lot of support from Macmillan nurses who have been amazing.

Over at The Yard they were dressed in green and eating green for their Macmillan coffee day with green specials available all day followed by an evening of classical music from leading string and quartet group, Carlton Ensemble, raising £120 for Macmillan.
