A number of local organisations and businesses will be making time for what matters in life and hosting a coffee morning on Friday 26th September to help raise money for Macmillan.

They will join thousands of people across the UK by inviting people to drop in for coffee, tea and cake and take part in the World's Biggest Coffee Morning to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Alderley Edge Hockey Club is amongst those taking part in Alderley Edge, they are inviting people to drop by for coffee, cake and to help raise funds from 10:30 am at The Edge Hockey Centre on Wilmslow Road.

A Big Coffee Morning is also being held at Alderley Edge Scout Hut, on Talbot Road, from 11am to 2pm and at the Royal Bank of Scotland where the branch staff will be serving coffee and cakes from 10am to 2pm.

Meanwhile The Yard will be going green - serving raw platters, leafy salads and wraps, spirulina cupcakes, green smoothie specials, matcha lattes and fresh organic wheatgrass. Then in they will host an evening of classical music from leading string and quartet group, Carlton Ensemble and serve a three course meal with proceeds going to Macmillan Cancer Support.

Macmillan's fundraising manager for Cheshire, Louisa Walmsley said: "The World's Biggest Coffee Morning is a really fun event that is really easy to take part in, especially as you can tailor it to suit yourself.

"We want to make sure no one has to face cancer alone but we can't do it without the amazing people who fundraise for us.

"Every pound raised by those taking part in events like World's Biggest Coffee Morning helps us be there for someone with cancer when they need us most so ask your friends, family or work mates to come for coffee and raise some money to support Macmillan."

In 2013, 154,000 people signed up for the charity's biggest fundraiser, raising a record £20 million.

All the money raised will be used to help fund the charity's vital services from specialist nurses and doctors, to grants and advice for people who have money problems because of their illness. Macclesfield Hospital is home to one of Macmillan's resource centres which supports people going through treatment, and is only up the road.
