Family run restaurant defies the credit crunch

heddy

Last Thursday, Heddy Ghazizadeh, owner of Heddy's on Water Lane, Wilmslow purchased La Vina in Alderley. The restaurant is currently being given a complete refurbishment and he plans to reopen in record time on Monday with a soft launch. Heddy's new venture the Stay Bar and Restaurant will be another family run affair but with a different style to his middle eastern cuisine in Wilmslow. Heddy explained that he feels there is too much pretension around food nowadays so he is taking a good old fashioned approach. The menu will be based on traditional English cooking with a Mediterranean twist which Heddy describes as honest food, such as trio of lampchop hot pot & scrambled eggs for breakfast. The menu will also feature lots of fish dishes including baby halibut fillet and seared seabass. We wish Heddy and his family every success with their new venture and we are sure he will receive a warm welcome to the village.

Whilst it's great to see that a local business has taken over La Vina rather than a chain, I will be sad to see the Tapas disappear!! So many of the restaurants in Alderley Edge offer very similar foods. Hopefully, 'Stay' will offer something a bit different and do well. Good Luck and let's hope they 'stay'!!

I visited Heddy's in the village on Saturday night and though the meal was very acceptable I was very disappointed that it was not based on the tried and tested food at Heddy's in Wilmslow and that it was similar food to that which can be purchased at so many of the other eateries in the village. I mentioned this to Heddy who said that he did not want to compete with his other restaurant. I agree with Dawn above.

It has been two months since Stay opened in the village so I caught up with Heddy today to see how it was going. Whilst he was happy to admit it has not been without challenges he was confident about the future and will be introducing a number of changes. At the request of customers the menu will be adapted to move more towards the middle eastern cuisine which he is renowned for at his Wilmslow restaurant Heddy's. He will also be introducing live jazz on a Thursday evening and Sunday lunchtime, when he serves a traditional roast.
