School councillors visit George Osborne in Westminster

School councillors from Years 5 and 6 at Alderley Edge Community Primary School travelled by train to London this week to meet our local MP George Osborne.

The councillors travelled across the capital and had a tour of the Houses of Parliament before meeting the Chancellor of the Exchequer in his Westminster office where they had the opportunity to interview him, asking questions about his life and his work. Finally, the children enjoyed the opportunity to walk down Downing Street and stand outside No. 11.

Chris Perry (Headteacher) said "It was an amazing visit and one which I am sure the children will never forget.

"There were many highlights during the day but I think the one the children will remember most was their surprise meeting with the Prime Minister, David Cameron. We did not expect to meet the Prime Minister but he very kindly took time out to greet the children and ask them about our school and their visit."
